Our Expertise

Making software has similarities to a space launch. Some projects soar majestically into success, casting aside their earthly constraints, arising a marvel, a wonder. And then there are projects like the recent Qld Health Payroll System.

Methodolo-what?

Many people underestimate just how technical and intense software development can be. That is why developers use words like 'design' and 'architecture', 'engineering' and 'methodologies'. Just like the space shuttle, our designers and engineers understand the constraints and processes of our industry. When we design software - we build it to last.

In recent years, there has been a trend towards abandoning Big Design Up Front methodologies and adopting Agile. Launch IT recognize the benefits of each strategy and are comfortable working with either one, as per our client's needs.

We aren't legally code-ninjas

... but that's only because there's no formal definition yet. Some of our developers won't even leave the building on a Friday night. Aren't you going home? Why - my computer is here! It's probably a good thing too, in an industry that changes every year, it's keep up or get out. We love code, so we keep up with the recent changes and trends in technology, allowing us to provide the latest (easiest - quickest - most secure) solution to your needs. At the moment, our technologies of choice for most projects are C# 4 / MVC 3 / WCF / EF / Sql Server 2008 R2 / jQuery / CSS3 / HTML5.

A good project manager can save a hundred thousand dollars

These aren't our words, but we sure agree with them! Risk identification and mitigation, task dependency, resource allocation - these are just a few of the important tasks that our project managers are entrusted with.

Having good project management is important. You can have all of the most fantastic programmers in the world, but if they are working on the wrong thing at the wrong time -- the project fails. 60% of all IT projects fail (either over budget - or over time), which is why you need to feel confident that your projects are adequately scoped, estimated, designed in each iteration of development.

drop jaw, liquid interfaces

Launch understand the importance of an attractive user interface. It's not just being pretty - a simple, clutter free interface is easy to follow and therefore efficient to use. User interfaces should assist the user in what they really want to do, and guide them visually to their next task. This topic toes the border of traditional IT and touches on subjects generally considered in Art or Architecture.

Having said that, we like pretty too! Why settle for simple and nice when you can have simple, nice, and drop jaw, stunning liquid interfaces that breathe? In a world over-saturated with eye-candy, it becomes harder and harder to differentiate oneself visually - but our designers still know a trick or two to give you that unique edge.
